Architectural Design Services
PM Architectural Services provides complete architectural services for homeowners across Crawley, West Sussex and Mid Wales. We design house extensions, loft conversions, garage conversions and new builds, taking your project from the first conversation through to detailed drawings ready for your local authority.
Everything is handled in house. Our architectural services cover measured surveys, concept design, planning drawings and building regulations packages, and because we also offer design to build, we can carry the project through construction if you would like us to.

Why homeowners choose our Architectural Services:
Designing your home extension or property alteration should be an exciting process, not a frustrating compromise. Many homeowners in Crawley come to us having already been given designs that do not suit how their family actually lives, or that would cost far more than they ever intended to spend.
We work the other way round. Before anything is drawn, we establish a realistic budget with you, and every design decision after that is measured against it. If a scheme starts drifting beyond what you wanted to spend, you hear about it straight away rather than at tender stage when it is expensive to change.
You also deal with the same people from start to finish. We personally get to know every client, which is how we create individual designs that deliver what you actually want, within the budget you actually have.
Our Step-by-Step Design Process
The design phase moves from initial contact and scoping through to the creation of detailed, buildable drawings. Here is what happens at each stage, and exactly what you get.
-
Free initial consultation - A member of our team meets you at the property to discuss your requirements, walk the space, establish the project scope and flag any planning constraints early. You leave the meeting with a realistic ball park costing for the build and a written fee proposal for our architectural services.
-
You receive: site visit and scoping discussion, ball park build cost range, initial planning feasibility view, written fixed fee proposal.
-
-
3D surveying and concept development - We survey the existing building using advanced 3D scanning technology, then develop the initial concept designs. You see the proposals as properly measured drawings rather than loose sketches, so you can judge them on their merits.
-
You receive: measured survey of the existing property, existing and proposed floor plans, elevations and cross sections, concept options to review.
-
-
Design finalisation and submission - We review the plans with you at regular intervals and refine the design with your input. Once finalised, the drawings are prepared to the standard required by your local authority and are ready for submission. We can handle the submission for you.
-
You receive: finalised drawing package, site and location plans, planning application submission on request, building regulations package as an optional next stage.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the difference between concept designs and technical drawings?
Concept designs are initial drawings that illustrate the overall vision for your project, focusing on layout, form, and aesthetics. Technical drawings are detailed, precise documents that include dimensions, specifications, and construction details. Technical drawings are essential for building control approval and for guiding the construction phase of your project.
2. How long does the design process take?
Timescales depend on the size and complexity of your project. As a general guide, concept designs are typically developed within one to two weeks, with technical drawings taking a further two to four weeks. We work as efficiently as possible at every stage without compromising on quality, and we will keep you informed throughout.
3. Can changes be made during the design phase?
Absolutely. Client feedback is central to how we work. We review your plans with you at regular intervals throughout the design process, allowing adjustments to be made before the technical drawings are finalised. Our goal is to ensure the end result reflects exactly what you had in mind.
4. What types of projects do you produce architectural drawings for?
We produce drawings for a wide range of residential projects, including single and double-storey extensions, loft conversions, garage conversions, porches, and new builds. We also offer 3D Home Scan surveys to provide a highly accurate starting point for your design.

Dan helped us with our side extension, from consulting during the drawings stage all the way through to completion. He made several useful suggestions and improvements to maximize space and make use of light for our small extension. His knowledge and support throughout was invaluable.

Yell Review
Knowledgeable company that led us in all the right directions. Polite and friendly staff who made us feel very comfortable throughout our project. I certainly don’t think we could have achieved what we did without them. I will certainly be using them again for future projects

Dan did my extension and was really great to work with from the beginning to the end of the project. He was very informative about the process and everything he said would happen did and in the timescale. There is no worry about submitting plans getting work signed off and all the paperwork completed it’s all done by them. The design was exactly as I wanted and Dan listened to what I wanted and got it exactly right. Nothing is to much trouble and each step is clear and prices are very reasonable. It was a pleasure to work with Dan and my extension is fantastic. Highly recommend. Debbie
